As far as construction notes, I've got to say this kit was obviously taken from the same mold as the Excelsior! just a few changes were made and some new parts cast, and most of them fit badly. The Excelsior went together smoothly, but this kit had to be clamped in places, trimmed in others, and puttied everywhere!

It's a nice looking kit, but the way they designed the parts for the lower hull, it would be a nightmare for an inexperienced builder. Sheet styrene had to be used to fill in the  interior of the landing bay in those "labia majora" looking extensions on the front of the lower hull, and trying to get the lower hull to glue together without bending into a curve on top was  tough. Everything else went together reasonably well, despite serious gaps between all the parts.

All The blue and grey areas were airbrushed on then masked with graphic design tape and some masking tape. Then it was all sprayed white. The aztec panels were painted on with stencils over the whole ship in a mixture of ducks edd blue and white, then the whole ship was coated with a pearl-escent topcoat.

After this was good and dry, the masking was removed from the blue and grey areas, and the detail painting was done by hand. Then the standard gloss coat over everything followed by decals, followed up with a coat of clear satin finish(I LOVE the satin finish on my ships!)
