Barry Yoner's TARDIS

This is a cardboard-and-balsa model of the TARDIS put out by the Doctor Who Fan Club of America in 1985. I believe it was was called a "Metropolitan Police Call Box" due to licensing considerations. I picked this model up in 1986 at a Doctor Who convention for a reasonable $13 US.

It is a straight-forward model, with lots of small bits to make it look authentic. The decals for the windows, "Police Call Box" and small panel on the one front door were of the peel-and-place sticker variety. A small brass door handle and lock plate with nails completed the kit.

The model was assembled using white glue, and painted with Testors' spray can blue. Over the years, the wear and tear of sitting, and occasionally being bumped by different items resulted in a very realistic weathering!

The overall model size is right around 4" x 4" around the base, and just over 10" tall (including the light on the top).

Because this was a fan-produced model, I have no idea if this kit is available anymore, or if the Doctor Who Fan Club is still in operation. I only ever saw them at that one and only time at the convention.
