Way back in 1979, my family took a long drive from Minnesota to Orlando at Christmastime. Being the Trekkie from Hell, I insisted that
my parents take me to a shop called Enterprise 1701. There I saw this really cool model of the Man From UNCLE. Of course they did not want to sell it.
Flash forward to 1986. Having just graduated from
college, I took my wife to Orlando for having put up with me though school. Having also graduated from Trekkie to Trekker, I insist that we visit Enterprise 1701. There I see this cool UNCLE model. "How
much do you want for it?" I ask. "It's not for sale," is the reply, "Lots of people want it. It's worth a lot of money."
1991. Connie and I take another vacation to Orlando. Having
grown from Trekker to basic Trek fan, I insist we visit Enterprise 1701. "Can I buy that Man from UNCLE model?" "No. It's not for sale."
1997. Connie and I take our son Christopher to
Orlando for his first trip to Disney. Being a long time Trek fan, I insist we visit Enterprise 1701. After all, I am CultTVman and have a
SF Modeling Page. Enterprise 1701 has lots of cool models. "Where is Napolean Solo? I'd like to take a picture of it for my modeling page," I say. "I dunno," is the reply. "I know you used to have a Man From UNCLE kit here" "Oh!, the Man from UNCLE... he's in back.. let me get it out." Then another guy comes out and says, "You know, we may be willing to part with it."
"SOLD!!!" says CultTVman.
